Is there an audible difference?

Two tracks, recorded three times. 1x E50, 1x MMb2 OS, 1x NOS.

Have fun

You can call them oranges and pears for all I care. It doesn't matter, since they serve the same function. It's just a question of which tastes better. To express in all analogies.

In theory, what are the specific advantages of a NOS design that non-NOS designs cannot have? Would love to understand this more.

Schiit has probably added the nos mode to the MMb2 via firmware update. In which they have bypassed the oversampling filter. I am not an expert in this field, but as far as I have learned, this can only be a disadvantage. However, I would like to out myself as a new Schiit fanboy at this point. I recently bought the Lyr+ and this week the MMb2. I am thrilled with both devices.

Thank you for preparing these tracks! I was thinking to buy multibit dac but can't hear any difference in these tracks. May be I am not so trained or my systems is not so resolving but I like it. So will use cheaper Delta Sigma dac. Thanks

Thank you! It is great to see how, in a blind test, the differences are quite subtle.
as X you mean W?

I deleted the NOS file. I had mistakenly activated 4x oversampling in the Neutron Player. I will make a new recording in the next few days. MMB2 1x with Mike's Digital Filter, and 1x without

Not exactly comparable as the offset is too large between the recordings but you get an idea:
(W=blue,Y=white)
