Thank you for your reply. I own the MOTU M2 and I use it primarily for my microphone for gaming and discord. My main question is will I benefit from greater soundstage and a little bit more warmth in upgrading my L30II to say a Midgard without also having to buy the Modius. I apologize that Amir's test don't help me as they should as I am a laymen when it comes to the technicality of his test charts. Still learning.
I have a FiiO K9 AKM, that has a THX AAA 788+, and a Ibasso DC Elite coming. I was considering getting rid of the K9, buying a Schiit Midgard and use the DC Elite as a desktop DAC with the Midgard when I want to.
My question is if I'll get any improvement in sound quality just changing de amps, all else being equal.

No you don't get an improvement in sound unless you're driving very hard to drive headphones such as Hifiman Susvara where the extra power from Midgard is needed

pardon my ignorance ....... i have a fosi ZD3 DAC with a fosi ZA3 amp using this to connect them https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08XQQK59H/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2JAH816F3JQTD&psc=1 . i've been using the ZD3 rca outs to a "closeout" schiit magni heretic . i have zero problems with the heretic ..... however the better half's 3-4 year old fx-audio dac-x6 bit the dust soooooooo i have a "reason" to upgrade .
my plan is to give her my few months old heretic and order her a SMSL su1 and she should be good to go .
the midgard looks to be all i want and more , but i have a question about if the balanced in and balanced out stay balanced all the way through . the balanced looking HP out on the front isn't balanced but to make use of their halo system (that i may never use) so i want to be sure that doesn't compromise the balanced in/out signal path . FWIU on the fosi ZA3 the balanced out is cleaner/better than the RCA out . also FWIU on all or most DACs with balanced and RCA out the balanced are typically cleaner . i don't have any noise issues . i just want to get something fairly decent .... maybe have some bragging rights to make me feel better about my little buddy . i use tygr 300-r HP's but i sure want to try a pair of planars in the near future .
should i be good to go with the midgard ? is there something else with balanced in/out that i may want to consider ? i'm not gonna get on my asian made computer/phone and talk crap about only buying American .... but it is part of the reason i got my heretic from them as i do like to support American made when i can afford to .
thanks folks and be kind to this audiophool .
