Anyone familiar with this 3-way kit from SB Acoustics? The prefinished cabinets look pretty sweet! Not much in the way of measurements posted by them except for this:

  • Nominal Impedance: 4 Ω
  • Max SPL: 108 dB
  • Recommended amplifier: 100-200 W
  • Cross-over frequency: 480/2800 Hz
  • Enclosure type: Bass reflex (woofers), sealed (midrange)
  • Port tuning frequency: 32 Hz
  • Driver units: SATORI TW29BN-B-8, 61/2″ SATORI MR16P-4, 2 x 71/2″ SATORI MW19P-8
  • Cabinet material: 28, 18, 15 mm MDF
  • Speaker Dimension: 1100 x 230 x 615 mm (43.3 x 9.0 x 24.2 inch)

While seems like a generally quality design, is a bit pricey for DIY. The droop in the response around 200 Hz is odd and hopefully just a measurement artifact. However did not see any stated conditions for the measurements. :(

yeah, looks like they go for around $5K on in the USA so there is some pretty stiff competition like the revel F208

To be fair, the Revel also tends to use SB/Satori parts. In a lot of ways you could look at this as a "better" revel tower. But the question I have is ultimately what benefit is there in spending more money on these drivers when Harman's already min/max'd and measured an equivalently expensive finished set?
