I know that variations on my question have come up in the past but I'm stuck and would appreciate some help, if possible.

I currently have Sony UBP-X800 and UBP-700 Blu-ray/SACD players. I've been trying without total success to extract the DSD audio stream from the HDMI output of the players. I'm not trying to copy the files; I just want to play them in all their DSD glory right off the discs.

I think I'm almost there. At the moment, I have the HDMI output from the UBP-X700 routed to one of these no-name ebay boxes:

The HDMI signal is looped through the box and out to a TV (the Sony players have no display).

The IIS signal coming out of the box is routed to the IIS input of my SMSL RAW-DAC1. On the first try, the DAC did not "see" the incoming DSD data. However, when I selected the "reversed" option for the DAC's IIS input, eureka:

So, the good news is that the DAC is receiving the DSD data from the Sony player. The not so good news is that I'm getting no sound :-(

I've toggled a few possibly related settings on the SMSL DAC but no joy.

Anyone out there go down this path successfully?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Alright, I'll answer my own post! At this point, I'm not sure what the magic combination of settings turned out to be but SACDs are now playing perfectly. The $59 Amazon sourced HDMI-to-IIS box that has been sitting in a drawer for two years actually works.

Was there an option in the SMSL DAC that allowed you to change the I2S pin mapping? I've seen those converter boxes on ebay, but the opinions vary on them. I have a SACD player (UBP-X700) and have been trying to figure this out for a while now.

Don't give up hope. Both my UBP-X800 and UBP-X700 now stream DSD to the SMSL DAC successfully when the HDMI out from the BD players is routed through the no-name HDMI-to-IIS box.

No, thIs particular SMSL DAC does not offer multiple IIS pin mapping. However, it was only necessary to select the "reversed" option for the HDMI IIS input on the RAW-DAC1for the Sony's DSD stream to be recognized.

It's been a while since I messed around with this so I'll review my current WORKING settings on the BD player, DAC, and magic converter box this evening to see if I've neglected to mention anything else I might have changed.
