Hi,
I have tried various Aabaj D5 filters in the 'filters' section of the menu and I can hear absolutely no difference between...if there is a difference, it is so subtle as to be nearly indiscernible...I am becoming increasingly suspicious that the various filters really do not do anything at all and it was a feature that was supposed to be with the DAC but was finally not implemented...
Any thoughts anybody?

They are implemented, and their effect can be seen on a scope, ...but as you noticed, they are pretty much inaudible.

Amir has an excellent description of what DAC filtering does in his latest YouTube video here. Notice on his graph how the impact of the filters is almost entirely above 20K, which I certainly cannot hear. The particular DAC he is testing has poorly implemented filters, and even on it, the filters are not audible.

It depends mostly on your age.
Young folks can discern between slow and fast filters.
True audiophools can reliably tell the difference between all filters on the condition that they know what filter is being used at the moment they listen to it. To them the differences are so clear (obvious) that they do not even have to test this blind.
The older they are the better they get at it because of experience.

Just set it to fast linear phase or if the latency is killing use the fast minimum phase filter.
