Sabaj A30a announced

After a year on having this amp (and buying a few other integrated amps from similar brands) I still cannot believe how good this thing is, so I'm curious and would like to know if changing the power cable from 240v 10a to to 240v 13a woth it?
No

I don't see why it would be worth it? If it has enough power now, no need to add more. Especially if it isn't designed for that.

Ah yea he's talking about the power adapter. I read 24V 10A to 13A lol... 240V would definitely not be worth it, the amp is not going to use 10% of the power of the 10A line lol
The a30a was shipped to me with a 240v 10a standard from hifi express

Thank you, fabulous that you are very much enjoying the Sabaj A30a but we will not know (and really cannot say Yes or No) until the Sabaj A30a is measured with the 13amp PC, that you have chosen to connect to it, will we, although you can try it and let us know of your impressions.

For Consideration, re N/D/etc….
PS…. utilises the Mornsun LOF350-220B48-PT/7.3A SMPS which is very good but there are others that can be considered, for example….
  • Audiophonics/France - MORNSUN LOF550-20B48 SMPS 550W 48V 11A PFC, DCV adjustable/45.6V-50.4V, Power 550W/PFC, Rated Current 11A, Input, Efficiency 94.00%, Input Voltage 90-260VAC or 127-370VAC, 127x76x40.5mm mm (L*W*H), note may have the same connectors/connections/fitting/etc.
  • @Roland68 has mentioned Meanwell, note that these do not have the same connectors/connections/fitting/etc….
    • Meanwell HRP-300N3-48, DCV 48V, Power 336W/PFC (peak power capability 350%/300W-1050W), Rated Current 7A, Input, Efficiency 89.00%, Input Voltage 85~264VAC (Withstands 300VAC surge input for up to 5 seconds), 199x105x41mm (L*W*H)
    • Meanwell HRP-300N-48, , DCV 48V, Power 336W/PFC (peak power capability 200%/300W-600W), Rated Current 7A, Input, Efficiency 89.00%, Input Voltage 85~264VAC, 199x105x41mm (L*W*H)
    • Meanwell SMPS AC/DC types
Amplifycation Stage…. other implementations with the AX5689 suggest that the STA516BE can be considered as the weaker performing and as such, be confident that the AX5689 is the higher performer, in this implementation, can’t we? So, will the STA516BE & LC, with N/D riseing as volume/V/I rises, mask upstream (PS/etc) improvements? PS improvement, re N/Ripple/PSRR/V/I, is usually beneficial. LC improvement, re Linearity/V/I/PFFB, is usually beneficial. There does not appear to be an improved STA516BE replacement? Nonetheless, firstly and if possible, measurement will be necessary to confirm any change/improvement as beneficial/compatable or not, won’t it?

If you want a truly high-quality power cable, and by that I mean material, workmanship, and quality, then you could go for the LAPP sold by the meter.
- ÖLFLEX® ROBUST 210
- ÖLFLEX® ROBUST 215 C
- ÖLFLEX® HEAT 260 MC
Each in the 3G2.5 version with protective conductor, approx. €3-12 per meter, premium copper, no harmful PVC.
A set of high-quality plugs costs around €5, and if appearance and housing material are important, it also costs around €25. If you want a different look, there's a huge selection of power sleeving.

This can't be topped in terms of quality or measurement, no matter how expensive the cables are; it's likely to get worse.
But this is more for your soul and the look, because nothing will change in terms of sound.

Just got confirmation from sabaj that the Sabaj A30a is discontinued.
Since Amazon's stocks have been repeatedly sold off and then replenished in recent months, it can hardly be due to sales.
Perhaps they don't want to jeopardize sales of SMSL's poorer-measurement GaN amplifiers. Perhaps Sabaj will now release a knockoff of these Infineon GaN amplifiers.

But that creates space for other Axign-based amplifiers, hopefully better equipped and without the same limitations.

So after 3 years still no review by Amir?
And where's a40a? it seems sabaj is not doing so well. they should have A60a by now :-?

The SMSL VMV A2 is an identical device and was successfully tested by Amir. The big difference from the A30a is the housing and that the circuit board in the A2 is installed upside down. This shouldn't affect the measurements or the sound.

Why should there be an A40a or even an A60a? The A30a is still as competitive as it was three years ago.
This consumer attitude is precisely the reason why new products keep appearing within a short period of time that aren't fully developed and often lack quality control.
Why replace a well-functioning and proven device?
SMSL has just released several GaN amplifiers based on Infinieon, whose measurements and performance are worse, or no better, than almost 40-year-old NAD power amplifiers. Not to mention the eyewash with GaN transistors, which currently offer no real advantage in amplifiers other than marketing attention.
Should that be progress then?

I would very much welcome an A40a with 400 watts and an A60a with 600 watts based on Axign.

it seems sabaj is not doing so well
It is a slightly random under the radar brand I guess with a reasonably limited range and some odd designs. It seems their cheaper models are probably outsold by fosi and others and the A30a is for those in the know and is competing price wise with bigger hi fi brands.

Sabaj, like Loxjie, belongs to the same consortium/group as SMSL.
As already mentioned, the VMV A2 was developed by SMSL (or an external developer) and was released about a year before the A30a.
The A30a is the same device in a different package and was released a year later.
This is standard practice for this group and has often been the case with DACs and amplifiers.
The same applies to the various distribution channels such as SMSL/Sabaj/Loxjie directly and Aoshida and Shenzhen Audio.
They often build the same devices in different packages, with different displays, appearance, etc., sometimes with minimal changes.
E.g., AO300, AS400, A40 or DL400, DO400, D40 Pro, D60.

Making a prediction about how any of the companies will fare is pure speculation.

By the way, in my opinion, the A2/A30a are a product of chance, which is why I suspect an external developer. The design also strongly suggests that the potential of the Axign chip was neither understood nor even remotely exploited.
Since they presumably don't have developers for such devices, SMSL is once again relying on the Merus amplifier design developed by the manufacturer Infineon, which can optionally be operated with GaN transistors.
And this despite the fact that Axign technology has significantly greater potential, even with GaN transistors.

Yeah realise they share the same architecture quite a niche side product of that group with limited coverage and slightly odd design language. I wouldn't be surprised if they just drop off.

how do you know it's identical ?

it's a joke, mostly. if you look at SMSL and Topping how many devices they released between 2022 and now? If Sabaj is to compete they need to at least release a new product every year. Not that I'm saying it's the right product strategy, but it's a thing in China. You move fast or you're out. 3 years without new product in a extremely competitive market is not a good sign
I did buy a a20a 2022, which is collecting dust now ...
