I have SMSL AO200 and I want to buy these speakers. My listening room is very small, I need small speakers to listen to them very closely and for the bass you think about the subwoofer. My shelf speakers Magnat 202 are too big for my room, and to listen closely the ears hurt. Should I buy these speakers? Or should I buy other small speakers for a very close listening? Watch photos, I have a 3-meter room for 3 meters.

How small do you want to go? I'm in a similar situation in that my tiny home office is only 9x6 feet. I've been researching speakers for a very nice desktop set up and one that I'm seriously considering is the Paradigm MilleniaOne. They have to be used with a sub but apparently are almost point source in their sound. Let us know how you proceed.

I downsized to this below using Neumann KH 80 DSP at arms distance and I am happy. Will add a sub later too.

The new LS50 should work well here.

This is just for background listening and is set up like this because it was the only way possible in the particular environment.

Surprisingly, even with this awful placement, it sounds great. I tried to place them properly once just to test performance and it sounded amazing. The speakers performed the ultimate disappearing act. Also unexpected was the volume level capability of this small system. It can get to crazy loud levels in the 50m2 space.

In the future, it may evolve with proper placement in a different environment.

I'm glad they work for you. Getting a good sounding desktop system has been the bane of my existance. I keep going back to some old mission 760 speakers that have a well damped textile tweeter. I have tried just about every type of speaker/drivers at my desktop and just can't get the sound I want.
Nearfield and SQ just don't mix well, IMHO.
I don't.have any idea about 760 but I am enjoying old 754 freedom, and 753

Are these still a current SMSL product and have there been any other reviews?

They look quite nice in black but aren’t cheap. SMSL definitely has engineering chops but moving from electronics to speakers is a big leap.

But there are so many other brands from the same distribution agent Shenzhen Audio producing good amplifiers at all price ranges.
