Today I received my RSL Speedwoofer 10S MKII and it has a very noticeable hiss from 10’ away. Sounds like a loud white noise generator.

This is even when only connected to AC without audio hooked up.

Switches and knobs don’t make a difference.

Volume knob does not raise or lower the sound.

Connected or not to Denon AVR-X3800H has no impact.

Testing in 3 different rooms plugged into outlet had no impact.

I sent a video to RSL and hoping for an easy resolution.

EDIT: Also ran off a UPS battery and the hiss was still there.

Being in Canada this could become a very expensive experience.

Yeah, sorry to hear that.... Rsl is a pretty solid outfit by reputation, I'd assume they are going to make it as painless as possible ....Just guessing here but that may be an easy plate amp replacement, it's customer level replacement on svs subs, it may be like that on rsl's as well... That would ease any concern considerably I would think...

Yeah I think it’s the sub’s amp as I just tested running off a UPS battery. (Updated post with this test)

It’s good to isolate issue to subwoofer

Hmmm, I was thinking the first statement didn't go along with the second. But, it should not have a loud hiss from 10 feet away. It is a broken sub right out of the box (it happens) They should fix you up very quickly. If not, do not wait to return it. The biggest problem many have is they fiddle with something past its easy to return date. Just returning it and getting another new one will pretty much guarantee you will probably have a nice sub. Good Luck!

RESOLVED. I received a replacement amp which I swapped.

Had some trouble disconnecting the cable but there is a tab on the cable that needs to be pressed in

They sent me a helpful video showing this. I suggested they add a drawing of this to the instructions.
