Room EQ “Roomfit” WiiM Ultra Help

Newb here, I’ve ventured into WiiM Ultra land as my first “non AVR” setup. I’ve really enjoyed focusing on music with a dedicated 2.1 channel system. Wiim’s room correction has been interesting learning and I recently purchased the Dayton Audio IMM-C microphone. I’ve also uploaded the calibration file and have completed a number of correction runs with their target curves of BK, Harman, Flat… EQ’d from there as desired.

My speakers are B&W 706 S3 bookshelf which doesn’t seem to be a popular brand here, but I much preferred them over KEF and others in multiple listening visits to HiFi stores. They are supplemented with a JL E110 (10” sealed) sub at front corner in a large living room. Unfortunately, towers just don’t go in here or I’d have them. Best luck so far for my preferences has been the Harman target with settings of <300hz corrections. The B&W’s have a natural dip in the mids and peak in the highs but honestly I prefer it over flat.

Here is the question; I’ve got a 10db+ dip at 60hz relative to target on results before adjustments and the suggested EQ is a small blip up. End result is it doesn’t ‘correct’ the dip. Below are the screen shots from multiple Flat and Harman runs, before and after. The dip remains. Why doesn’t it get corrected?

Every scenario I’ve run is the same. So I ‘guessed’ at it the best I could with EQ only, no RoomFit enabled, which I’ve posted following the RoomFit results. Any suggestions and how is my EQ guess?

Many thanks.

The direct and reflected soundwaves are combining and creating standing waves. At some frequencies and some places in the room the waves combine out-of-phase and cancel. +10dB requires 10 times the power (wattage) and proportionally more or bigger woofers.

Generally, you can knock-down the bumps but you can't do much with the dips. The bumps tend to be more annoying anyway.

Bass traps can help to absorb the waves that are now being reflected and that can smooth-out both the bumps and dips but that's "serious" acoustic treatment. Sometimes repositioning the subwoofer can help and multiple subwoofers are another solution if it's that important to you.

Try not to boost too much, it will cost you a lot of power with small if any results. The dip rond 4Khz is the well known BBC dip, all the B&W speakers have that...
