Room correction with REW no difference, Newbie.

I'll take a look! I thought that decay time would appear the same in the frequency response, now I can see how that's different! Thank you for your help and advice. I'll keep my sub for now (it's within the return period still) and see if I can manage to treat my room somehow too! I did want to eventually upgrade to the Kali IN-5 despite the bigger size and my limited space, but that's a long way away from now and I can sell my kanto and the sub together eventually.
As for this, welcome to ASR and apologies on behalf of the crowd here... please don't take it personally. We don't get a lot of non-dudes who also let that fact be known around here. Audio is a bizarrely male-dominated space, ASR included, so the default assumption of new folks being guys sometimes gets made with no evidence either way. Even with a username like "AmeliaBuns". :)
That's okay, thank you! I appreciate you saying that.
judging from experience, I think it's kind of funny because a lot of women are pushed away spaces like this for the very same reason: they are very male-dominated and at times it can be unwelcoming. Thankfully I feel like this is slowly changing and people are giving less of a crap about that kind of stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more women here with less obvious usernames. I personally knew another woman who was very into hi-fi and the science behind it which I sadly don't talk to anymore. She knew a lot more than I do!

Yeah, so I've heard, hopefully you find ASR is not like that.

Hope you are right. And, on the latter point, I also wouldn't be surprised. I don't see people being too sexist too often here, but you never know what might go on in the private messages or whatever.

Anyway, I think ASR is mostly welcoming to anyone that comes in with a genuine interest in the science behind good sound. On the flip side, it's very unwelcoming to anyone that makes unsupportable claims about audio.

Room treatment is a shockingly deep subject and a lot of what you see online is either marketing or regurgitated marketing. The TL;DR is that most absorbers you can buy do very little for the bass, but they soak up plenty of mids and treble nonetheless, so if your goal is to control bass, these treatments can make things worse if you use too many. There are absorbers that work well for bass but they're less common. (Resonators, VPR traps, membrane traps) None of the good stuff is cheap per se. Definitely a best practice thing, to have physical room treatment, but do a lot of measurement and planning before shelling out $$$ for them.
