Hello everyone,

I'm trying to build a small home studio and I came across Caruso ISO Bond.
I'd like to know how do you feel about it and if you could help me out with choosing the right density, size, etc...

The thing is... My room has a "small hole" that connects two rooms. I need to close it (it's like 1.2W x 2.4H). The room itself is something like 2,6W x 3,7 x 2,8H.

I'm a sound editor and this would be a small editing room in surround. I use Genelec 8030.

Does anyone one out here know how to guide me a little bit? I tried to have some answers with Donaudio but it has been difficult to have their feedback.

Attached you can find a sketch from my room made from my architect cousin. But I really didn't want a curtain to cover the hole in the middle... Unless you think it would be better, of course.

Well, I think that's it.

Thanks in advance :)

Best,
Jo

Hi @JoNzBr! Welcome to ASR.

Absorbers like the Caruso are meant to be placed on existing walls to suppress reflections off them.

They're not designed to cover up holes and will let sound through to the other room.

To cover up holes and prevent sound transmission, there are three rules:
-make it airtight
-make it heavy
-make it inert/non-resonant

This is much more straightforward than absorbers or diffusers, so get creative with DIY. The best solution is likely not available as a drop-in product.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Would you think that a heavy acoustic curtain would be best? Like the HOFA ones?
I already have a big bookcase from the other side.. Like it's a wall. When talking about the Caruso panels, my idea was to stack 6 panels on the bookcase's back... Maybe that doesn't make any sense...

Also, about bass traps, side panels, clouds... what would you recommend between Caruso WLG 045, 040, 035? :) I'd like to DIY panels with it

Thank you so much!

So to confirm when you say hole do you mean an opening to another room with traditional door height and width?
