Another poster mentioned this in passing, and I had to go look it up. There was no dedicated thread that I could find using any of the search tools, though I may simply have missed it.
Roger Russell, the long-time head of acoustic research at McIntosh and the developer of their line of speakers, among many other notable accomplishments, is dead at 85. I have followed his writings about McIntosh and his work there for a long time, and he was a speaker of truth (so to speak) amid the flood of foolishness that too often drowns high-end audio.

I don't know how long his web pages will be maintained (someone is looking into it, apparently--his death year is noted but no obituary that I saw), so we should all download all of it right now. It's loaded with interesting stuff.
He was one of the great ones of the golden age of stereos.
