I have acquired the RME ADI 2 FS. Pl suggest what would be the ideal streamer to go with it. ?

A wiim proplus. Or Bluesound node. Authoritative musical reproduction is critical.

Get the WiiM mini (Spotify and Tidal connect) or WiiM Pro (plus Ethernet and Qobuz connect). 100% transparent via digital connection.

Hi,
It really depends on what you want. I tried the Wiim products and they are OK as long as you don't want to play your own music.

What I like about the RPi4 running Moode is it's inexpensive and does a fantastic job.
I run Moode with a 256GB SAMSUNG MUF-256AB/AM FIT. It holds a ton of music.

Love the RPi4 8GB - $82 or 4GB for $65

Samsung Fit - $23

Amor case $14

WD Purple MicroSD 64GB $14

Power Supply $10

$143 gets you a fantastic streamer that can be setup to automatically start playing your music once it boots or use the IP address on a computer/tablet/phone to control playback. If you want to use a streaming service then use your favorite player software with UPnP capability. There's nothing as flexible as the RPi4 running Moode and it does it while only using 6W even with the Samsung Fit drive attached. I plug the RPi4 USB port into the RME ADI-2 USB input and it's a wonderful match.

Whether I want to play music from the USB drive or stream from Audirvana using Qobuz via UPnP it does it all. What's cool is when RPi4 is connected directly to ADI-2 DAC FS and playing music from the Samsung Fit it supports playback up to 352.8kHz in my tests. You won't find that resolution available with other streamers. The max is usually 192kHz.

There's no need to pay more than $150 for a quality streamer.
You can customize your case, storage size, SD Card, power supply and the services supported. Turn on what you want and leave the rest off. It's a sweet package that lets you customize it to fit your every need.

I use a Wiim Pro with mine, albeit to run as a Roon endpoint. Very happy with this solution.

Wiim Mini into it via Coaxial cable or Toslink cabe that comes with the Wiim Mini

I am using a WiiM mini and can play my own music stored in my NAS without issues.

Any half decent streamer with a digital output will just do it.

I use an old (second hand) Bluesound Node N100 (1st gen) with my ADI-2 Pro fs R.

You find them around 100-150€.

I have an Eversolo A6 hooked up to mine.

+1 for WiiM Pro + Toslink.

Yes I bought the Wii pro plus. Yet to connect. Will do and post my experience. Thx. Friends.

The WiiM Pro Plus is a great piece of kit, and an excellent choice long-term under a variety of different scenarios.

But if your plan is to connect it to an RME ADI-2 device (presumably using an S/PDIF digital connection), I'm curious why you choose the WiiM Pro Plus over the lower-priced WiiM Pro?

(Edit: I have a WiiM Pro routed to an RME ADI-2 Pro. So whether WiiM Pro or WiiM Pro Plus, I believe that is a fantastic pairing)

What are the perceived issues in this scenario?

When I used the Wiim app I could stream from Qobuz just fine, but there was no easy playback option for my local music. When I use Audirvana and Wiim mini as a UPnP device I can steam local as well as Qobuz but the UPnP code is so bad (with anything but Wiim's app) that it gets mixed up, stops playing tunes, won't start the next song... it's a mess. Every new Wiim firmware update had UPnP issues. I finally gave up.

On the other hand, RPi4 with Moode used as a UPnP streamer is ROCK SOLID with Audirvana. Move from song to song, or start a playlist with absolutely no issues. In addition, Moode has gotten amazingly easy to setup. I attach a $22 Samsung Fit USB3 256GB flash drive to the RPi4 and it can stream days of music at startup without even connecting a computer. It's a totally amazing feature!

If you want to control what's playing on Moode simply log in to the IP from any device (or set a bookmark) and change the music. No need to worry any longer about what the next Wiim update will break. I have three Wiim pucks in my junk drawer now and all I use is RPi4's with Moode.

The Moode playlist looks fantastic compared to the small Wiim display and is super easy to navigate. In addition, I can easily add music to the RPi4 using Moode without ever leaving my seat. I don't need a NAS running and the RPi4 uses a total of 6W according to Kill-A-Watt even with the flash drive attached. For me, the Moode interface and it's advanced features are far superior to my Wiim pucks.

You are right. Wiim pro would suffice. I m from India here in USA on holiday. Quickly I wanted to get a streamer. I found wiim pro plus with positive user views. And prime day sales offered good price. Also we don’t get quobuzz. Tidal etc in our place. I am Apple Music subscriber and this Proplus has airplay 2 enabled. And also I wanted to compare AKM velvet sound chip in wiim. With Ess sabre. I m yet to connect. But. Will be back to my place only by aug middle. Thx so much for your response.
