RME Adi 2 Pro FS or 2/4 Pro SE?

this type of application hardly seems like the type of thing that (in theory) would necessitate DirectX of any kind
The MIDI commands used for communications between the Remote app and the device are published by RME, so feel free to write your own control software.

It is more likely that I would eventually dedicate a newer laptop to this usage than feel the need to write software to access settings that (as far as I’m aware) are not otherwise locked away from me on the unit itself?
But good to know it is possible, if you can direct me to any documentation of that it would be appreciated!

In future revisions of the RME line I would like to see some sort of web or app based wireless control, similar to Focusrite Control, a feature that is available in the 4th gen 2i2 which costs 1/10th the price of the ADI-2/4. It can still be run on the computer the unit is connected to, much like ADI Remote, and I don’t believe it has any exotic hardware requirements either, but perhaps even better - I could just whip out an iPhone or an iPad and control things as needed from there as well.
Not an ultimate necessity or a priority over such quality AD/DA conversion, but it would be a nice quality of life upgrade, as long as we are making personal wishlists.

Hi from Japan.
I'm using ADI-2 PRO FS R and would like to be able to make balanced connections for headphones.
Do you think this product from Ali Express is compatible?

ChatGPT says balanced cables are directional and if they were the other way around it would be dangerous.
This shopper says it is ok.

Please give me your opinion.

ChatGPT is not wrong (for a limited situation), but it is not right for the general case. XLR to XLR balanced audio interconnect cables are effectively directional since once side is a female plug and the other side is a male plug, so it physically can only be routed in one "direction" from the output to the input device. On the other hand, a TRS to TRS cable is identical on both sides and there is no notion at all of "direction", so you can freely plug which ever end you want into the output and input device..

But if you want to know if that cable is correct, you need to check its wiring against the schematic shown in section 34.6 ("Balanced Phones Mode") in the RME manual for the ADI-2 Pro FS R.

There exist (at least) two pinouts for such dual TRS cables, mostly known as RME's and Mytek's pinout. As it is very nice to see that such a cable no longer costs a fortune (especially with Pentaconn) I have sent a message to that store for more information. If they don't answer I will just order one and try.

I have ordered mine and will report the results.
The headphones are OLLO X1.
If sound comes out of LR, can I determine that I have a balanced connection?

Today I received the OpenHeart dual TRS to Pentaconn (4.4mm) balanced cable. It is soldered correctly and works with both ADI-2 Pro and ADI-2/4 Pro SE (although for the latter it makes not much sense as a Pentaconn output is already present).
