RME ADI-2 FS Version 2 DAC and Headphone Amp Review

Anyone use one of these with a DAP or phone as source or is using a PC better? I pan on using with an HD800s
Any thoughts or insights?

I use the ADI-2 DAC FS with my dedicated audio phone. (Android, Redmi 10 2022) and USB Audio Player Pro in bit correct mode.
Works fantastic!

Interesting setup. You must have a mighty long USB cable to connect the REDMI to you ADI!
I do the same basically but I connect my REDMI/UAPP set to the portable QUDELIX K5 (which also includes a PEQ as the ADi). When walking outdoors I activate Bluetooth in UAPP and use the LDAC protocol which available on my REDMI 13. Also in this config the sound is phantastic (headphones: HD6XX and AKG371)

My USB cable from the ADI to the phone is 1 meter (~39") long. Wouldn't call that mighty long. :D
I did some tests with shorter cables, but couldn't hear any differences.
A 50 cm cable would just work, but then I could not reach to the REDMI/UAPP phone for changing tracks when sitting on the sofa.
The Qudelix I use in the office, with the 7Hz Zero:2

Merry Christmas to all!

Has anyone had any problems after updating the DAC f.ware?
How (if) did you solve it?
It seems that after the last one my DAC is not responding (no screen turning on or relais clicking inside the device) except the power button turning from red to white. The computer does not see the DAC too.
The update didn't get any error after finishing.
I tried resetting the device but no luck.
I have asked to the RME forum, and I have opened a ticket to RMEs support .... I am posting here too just in case anyone has any other idea that I might try.
Thank you!!

Maybe you already consulted the manual, if not I just found two interesting informations: there is a safety bios so the unit should stay functional after a failed firmware update, and the factory reset should be done with usb disconnected.

I sit 11 feet from my RME with a plain Jane USB cable: no issues.

I have done it with USB disconnected but no luck.. just the pwr button goes from red to white no clicking relays inside and no screen on

You seem to have overlooked the question about the possible confusion of VOL button with the VOLUME dial on the RME forum...

no I have not ... I also tried the option Volume Dial & Button (that deletes every configuration of the device) with encoder 1 with no result

Umm, seems you do confuse them. Why then would you press the VOLUME dial if reset is done by pressing the VOL button and Encoder 1 together? The VOLUME dial should be left alone here.

yes you are right..
I will try this too but i do not have high hopes..

do you know if there is any fuse after the power supply in the DAC ?
it seems that there is no power going "in" after the PS (excuse my non technical terms)

Double check your power connection at the DAC. RME uses a locking barrel connector, it probably is not locked into place. You will feel when it locks into place and your DAC should power up fine.

Yes, there is. But you say that the power/standby LED illuminates and reacts to the button, so power is being fed. Then it's either bad contact (as @MatrixS2000 says, make sure the locking power connector is fully inserted and locked) or corrupted firmware that should be able to be overridden by a factory reset.
