Hi. I connected the RME adi2 FD to my parasound p5 preamp. I m not getting the punch or volume as I used to get earlier. Where is the missing link. What level of volume I should set up in preamp and the ADI. I connected the digital sources to RME and output analogue to Parasound analogue. Pl advise. Thx.

I can guarantee that the ADI-2 itself is not the problem.

Try changing the ADI-2's Ref level.

The user manual will tell you how.

A basic multimeter can be used to double-check the output voltage.

Sure. Will try your suggestion. Thx.

Static V3. You are right. Nothing wrong with RME. It’s the” How To. “. Your suggestion helped a lot on my digging deep. I also read the exhaustive manual different times to understand what a nd how to work on RME in a WiFi set up. Not a head phone.set up. It’s now clear. I m happy to route RME analogue out to my preamp analogue in with XLR route. All digital connections from cd and streamer are into RME. So it’s primarily a dac. The results after fixing ref level to 13 as suggested in the manual gives excellent and crisp sound stage. It’s very revealing . Good I raised some doubts and from various answers I got my lead. Result is very enjoyable. Thx. Again. Yet to work on tweaking with EQ. Will do that also.

Could you confirm first that you are talking about ADI-2 FS :
And not about ADI-2 DAC FS ?

If the latter, you need yo put Auto Ref Level : Off, then, chose REF Level : +13dBu, and lock the volume at -4.5dB.

Hi. I m talking about RME ADI 2 DAC That’s what written in the product. It’s not RME 2 ADI fS. In any case I will take your point on ref and auto ref setting Thx.

Post resetting to +13 I observe it tends to be harsh. At voice level and high frequencies. If I use +7 it’s neat. And no harshness.
Volume can be kept at -4.5 Balance can be controlled thru preamp This is better to get cleaner and crispy soundstage in my view. Thx.
