RME ADI-2 DAC fs against the Topping D90SE

With such good measurements there is no way there can be sonic differences if tested under controlled conditions. If you want very good support, exceptional build quality and an extensive set of features, go for the ADI-2. If not, go for the cheaper Topping.

I'm sure it has been previously discussed, but some folks listen to gear and others to music.

Some trust their ears, and others the results of a few measurements.

By my little photo you may notice that I am a guitarist. In that world, there are folks that play music and others that spend most of their efforts on accumulating/collecting gear (guitars, amps, effects...). Some guys go on and on about tone, stacking multiple, expensive effects boxes in front of more expensive vintage or boutique amps that their favorite stars have been seen using...then they do a video demo to demonstrate tonal nirvana and can hardly play.

Different strokes.

I enjoy seeing the analytics posted here and discoveries made, like the power conditioners that add noise. Bought a demo Transparent power conditioner years ago based upon the hype of clean power and without double blind testing, determined that it changed the sound but didn't make it better, just different. It is now used as a power strip for our TV, cable box, Sonos, DVD player... Better sound with a decent power cable attached to the wall powering well-selected components.

All that said, when I need new gear I would check out the specs and tests here and elsewhere...then I would listen to how a new compenent sounds in my system.
