So wait for the update and buy cheap what is left...Because i only have one and need 3 more for the studios!
Perhaps because the old 2/4 is no longer available for sale, and they want features that are not available on the EX (which is a newer version of the Pro FS R)?What would be the reason to await a new one?
Only ADI-2fs and ADI-Pro EX on RME product pages. Waiting for EX product page to be complete to read full spec and manual. I think(hope) there is an upgrade to the balanced output ala 2/4.Perhaps because the old 2/4 is no longer available for sale, and they want features that are not available on the EX (which is a newer version of the Pro FS R)?
On the RME forum, there was mention that it is expected RME will release the new models incrementally for the discontinued ADI-2 lineup (Pro, Pro 2/4, DAC).
Yes thats what i was told when i contacted RME ,since i also wanted several units for an installation at TV brodcaster studios, besides my own ones.Perhaps because the old 2/4 is no longer available for sale, and they want features that are not available on the EX (which is a newer version of the Pro FS R)?

Good point - my apologies. Will be interesting to see what will the RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE successor (eventually) look like.No. It is replacement for the RME ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition. So the update doesn't really belong in this thread... but it may provide decent hints about potential successor to the Pro 2/4 SE.
Why do you say that? From one source, the list price was €1,850 for the ADI-2 Pro EX. While the list price of the ADI-2 Pro FS R was €1,999.The prices on these new units could keep resale values on the previous RME ADI-2 DAC FS units elevated.
Mostly, as you can't get anywhere near that 1000 price tag for the quality and features offered in the previous ADI-2 DAC FS. Now, the 2000 price range is the playground for that same quality Loudness feature with the new ADI-2 Pro EX gear. Sure, the new gear offers cool features but the LD and ADI2 remote software is enough for me. The previous AKM DAC "B" doesn't hurt either. Why do you say that? Of course, the resale value of high quality gear such as RME remains high overall. But unless I am missing something, it doesn't seem the list pricing is adding any uplift to the resale. Of course, for USA buyers, the impact of tariff pricing and unfavorable exchange rate may affect the cost of new units... I'm not sure what the pricing from USA vendors will be.
Well, it looks like we have written it off without even having access to a published spec sheet or an actual review.Wow, what a huge disappointment!
The biggest differentiators of the ADI-2 Pro EX compared to the ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition are the two letters „EX“ and the higher price.
- Larger chassis with ventilation: Refined design and improved cooling efficiency, matching the ADI-2/4 Pro look.
- Upgraded with chrome feet from the ADI-2 DAC FS, adding a refined touch to the desktop setup.
- Lockable USB-C connection: Modern and robust (USB 2.0, no bus power), 1.8 m cable included.
- And other cosmetics…
Is there any innovation in the new ADI-2 line-up that I missed?
More output power is nice, if its just beefier or redesigned output stage. New DC and power protection is also a goodie. I would wait for the PDF to read before I put the hammer down. One could always ask for more functions, but these are already avaliable if you have a complementary interface like UCXII/UFX.. ADI series strongest card has always been the price range IMHO. High end sound and functionality with a low end price tag. Power to the people! Heftier FPGA(s) and other stuff will surely shift that balance.Wow, what a huge disappointment!

Having a high-voltage power supply in an already hot chassis is never a good idea. In addition, reliability problems (as PS is the most common point of failure). I bought LNI-2 and couldn't be happier.I also hope they fix the buzzing power brick or place the power supply inside the chasis.
That's what I'm thinking! These days, the power of the FPGA's and DSP's dictates market success. Some companies already use up to five of the most powerful FPGA chips per device. Not the DAC chip, which is the last part of the chain and largely fixed in terms of specifications.Heftier FPGA(s) and other stuff will surely shift that balance
