RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE

I think you just nailed the product description, despite what seems a veiled denigration of RME's product update.

From all that I've read, the ADI-2 Pro S/E was always positioned as a limited change in functionality, combined with a shift to an ESS-based DSP chip. During that change, RME added some "minor" but very useful improvements — e.g., ability to send DSP-based channels 3/4 through the second set of outputs on the rear. And they added RIAA support since that was a capability available with the new ESS chip. It was never positioned as a major revision of the ADI-2 product.

Edit: I should add, I absolutely would have preferred those added "so and so" improvements of the 2/4 SE; they would be well worth the added cost. And I would have bought it; except it wasn't released until a few years after I already bought a Pro FS R black.
I didnt mean to denigrate anything I just didnt agree. Also, what comes after great expectations? It didnt match the imaginary product I had in my head. Just like that. I was a bit disapointed, but it doesnt diminish the product. At the time of release I think someone else felt the same way, but there where never any promises made(by RME). Anyway I hope RME releases another product that brings the versatility of ADIxxx to the next level. A real enthusiast product which can match the needs of studio, DIYers and the like.

The separately routable 3/4 outputs on the 2/4 Pro are a major piece of functionality for the pro market.

I'm not sure what more you're after from the 2/4. It has DSP, ADC, headphone amp, DAC output that is best in class. If you want more versatility you can combine any of RME's audio interfaces with the 2/4 Pro.

Im talking next generation. Monitor control, microphone input with room EQ and so on.

Why would RME bother with integrating third-party room correction software like Dirac? I don't think you understand their business.

Please dazzle me with your business insights! Interfaces already has room-eq with possibility to import *.rew. Why one would bother is bcs its a cool feature and to make ka-ching.

I saw an audiologist recently and have some age related hearing loss. I would like software for hearing correction.

This is a great topic (and one that applies to me as well)!. But I'd suggest asking this as its own post, instead of buried inside of page 26 for a specific piece of hardware.

Along this line, I would also love to have the option of RME's Room EQ — and TotalMix — available for the ADI-2 Pro line. Something that is currently only available on their Fireface line.

Being the "cool kid" on the block and/or adding product features only to make ka-ching bucks does not seem to be in line with RME's core market or product philosophy. Personally, I'm counting on them keeping true to their roots on this front.

Try the volume knob

Its more than a cool feature.! Its linearizing of monitors. Like linearizing of headphones. What roots are you talking about, making them sound like commies. Its a capitalist venture. You make stuff to sell stuff to make new stuff.

There are enough PEQ available to adjust to personal preferences.

Please help me understand why I should not consider that an ad hominem attack. (With the implication that I am so stupid as to not understand that RME is a for-profit corporation.)

I expect that type of commentary to appear on Facebook and Reddit; not among the ASR community.
