REW measurements with hearing loss

Hello

A UMIK will be arriving soon and I'll be taking my first REW measurements and would be grateful for some advice please...
  • I have speakers on my desk in a near field configuration.
  • I have some hearing loss in one ear and so I deliberately move one speaker (on the good side) further away from the central position, which creates a really good centre image / symmetric sound stage.
When I take the measurements in/around the centre position, should I have both speakers equidistant from the central position, or leave as-is?

Asking as I will generate an EQ file from the measurements and can imagine that either way might mess-up the final EQ'd result. Maybe it doesn't matter?

Thanks in advance.

Set the speakers up equidistant and use the preamp setting built into the EQ files to compensate for your hearing damage and restore good center image.

Reason being that by moving one speaker further away, you're not only affecting channel balance, but also shifting phase as the sound from each monitor arrives at slightly different points in time.

If this is your first time measuring room response and applying room correction, try https://www.loudspeakers.audio/en/.
