Revolver 2022

<snip>... It's a bit more louder but a balanced laid back sound. It looks like compression is used (example Taxman here under) . Compression does not have to be bad in this case IMO it did a good job but that is quite subjective.

A "BIT" more louder? "LAID BACK" sound??

If I am reading your screenshots correctly, the 2022 Taxman shows clear clipping. Now, perhaps "some" clipping is not as audible as us objectivists have come to believe, since the new Revolver sounds good to me.

It seems pretty clear that Giles did the same thing he's done on all the previous, recent remixes: Upped the bass and drums, and brought the vocals forward. So it sounds good, but (from those graphs) looks bad.

Anyway so is there anyone with hard audio recording skills (i.e., no Stereophilists) who can explain why we see apparent clipping in the waveforms yet don't hear anything "bad" when we listen to Revolver?
 
I’d like to believe that The Beatles had no problems at all in using the limitations of the recording technique of that time as nifty tools to help them to even boost their musical message. Insofar remasterings/remixes like this can be a mutilation.

For me it sounds ok as decribed. It looks like clipping but if you want real bad clipping that sound laid back (quite subjective:facepalm:). Sascha Dive - Jus Groove.

Not sure our younger viewers would understand this, but oldies like me had Beatles' songs gradually sink into our very essence and their albums followed suit. I 'know' Rubber Soul and Sgt Pepper almost inside out, but not Revolver, most of which I got to know many years later. My son just doesn't 'get it' at all, when wife and I burst into singing Beatles songs with ease ;)

You are reading wrong. At no time the waveform hits FFS.

I heard by they used De-mix technology to separate tracks from the original master.

I’m sorry but what has that to do with clipping?
 
The very first record I ever bought was Yellow Submarine 45 RPM.
I had a Yellow Submarine lunch box in elementary school and it smelled like overripe bananas after a few years.
My father was a huge fan and went to see The Beatles in concert and told me he couldn't hear any of the music over the screaming and the auditorium floor was covered in piss, so maybe hormones had a lot to do with their popularity...

Even the R (lower waveform) channel at the ~10 second mark? I also see what appears to be exceeding full scale in R channel at 1:15 and at 2:00.

Of course, if those are the only three points I can point out that exceed full scale, your general point stands and I concede its correctness. But "at no time" does not seem quantifiably correct.
 
Speaking of Yellow Submarine, I've got the DVD with the 1999 audio remix into Dolby Surround. Does wonders for a number of songs if you've got 5.1. The chaos of "It's All Too Much" has much greater instrumental separation. The DVD also has the option of playing the video with only the musical tracks.

I mentiond compression not clipping in my first post. Last post i meant compression instead of clipping;)

Maybe it is my eyes but I cannot see clip at 1:15 nor in 2:00. See the magnified image below. As you can see there is still room before hitting FFS.

But I take it you're tacitly conceding that it is indeed clipped at ~10 sec, so I get to walk away with at least a msec of dignity :)

I will refrain to argue further but remember that hitting 0dBFFS is OK, as long as the waveform is not distorted. You need to check at sampling level to be sure.

I was basically just trying to be humorous w my "still clipping at 10 sec" response. I defer to your superior audio experience. (I am only BSc in EE, but from a decent school!)

I meant that De-mix is a interesting technology/software which causes probably this waveform. I only sayed that it Looks like compression is going on. But thats is probably not the case.
