are they considering to add a DRE switch in the future?
I do not know. It requires redesigning the apps, would will be straightforward but still take some effort. I believe the lowered DRE activation threshold is adequate.

i wonder if walkplay apply the same fixes in other brand's dac with the same module. and maybe their future cirrus logic modules too, like the

Welcome to ASR! Would you be more specific on this issue? What kind of button usage? Although you said it's random, how can we most likely replicate this problem?
Well, after multiple days of usage it seems that the problem occurs for the first 1 or 2 connections after changing device. For example if i switch from my PC to my phone the first and maybe the second time I connect to my phone pressing on any of the dac buttons (volume up or down or pause) can lead to disconnection, dac light turns off and the only way to get it to work again is by removing it waiting for a minute or two and then reconnect again (I must wait or it will not work on it's own for some reason even after several attemps). Though for the most part the dac is workin fine, I can use it for several hours without disconnection or any obvious problem.

I have tried with different usb c cables and earphones. Now on version 0.4 and this problem still occurs

I don't have this issue, could be your phone maybe? What app on your phone? Do you use direct mode?
Can you try to switch to different phone with this device for few days to test?

The problem happens with my pc as well so I don't think it's related to my phone. Either my unit is somehow defective or there is something wrong with the firmware.
I'm using PCM

In this case can you try different USB port on your PC?

I am pretty sure this problem is related to its internal mechanism detecting headphone connection. I remember when connected to some headphones touching the DAC or pressing a button caused the DAC to be disconnected. Try to clean the headphone plug (or use other headphones) to see if the problem is of that kind. My Black Pearl has had no issue of the same kind since then.

EDIT. Or even worse, something may have crept into the headphone connector on the DAC. Anyway, try to clean both the DAC's connector and the headphone's plug.

I have no idea what issue this firmware has resolved. I have not received any message from WalkPlay. I examined the issues I asked them to solve last time. None of them have been addressed yet.
Maybe resolved new bug from v.0.4 ? ;)

They should publish firmware release notes, same as other manufacturers.

I'm having some trouble getting the Walkplay app installed and working with my Samsung s24 fe android phone. I managed to download the app onto my PC and then transferred it to the phone. I modified security to allow it to install and it did install ok but, when I try to sign up, I get to the point of being required to agree to the user agreements and the button doesn't work to agree. I've tried it multiple times, restarted the phone, but no luck. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks!

Try to upgrade the App to the latest, in case you have older version installed. Latest v.2.2.7

That app was a nightmare, haha! I finally got it installed, got the vcode, and finally got the user agreements to take my acceptance. Updating the firmware to .5 certainly fixed a number of faults. My unit came with firmware .2 and it was loudly clicking at every change in anything in my computer etc. It seems to have been fixed and is working fine. Now I better undo some of my security changes that I made to get it installed...

What do you mean by loudly clicking?

Hi. I just upgraded from v0.2 to v0.5 and my channel balance is broke.
It happened something like this: I downloaded WalkPlay and set the DAC to update, but the update hung at 33% and did not move for about 10 minutes. I reconnected the cable, and then the upgrade to version v0.5 was completed.
But after that, channel balance was disrupted. I tried to set it up in Windows or WalkPlay, but I still hear that the headphones sound different, as if the left ear does not reproduce half of the freqs. This is my first DAC and I'm quite new, so I'm asking for help

UPD
nvm, it's not the fault of the DAC. My headphones broke right after firmware update, i wanna kill myself

I was getting pops and clicks when any song changed. It was even worse when using my PC to browse YouTube etc.
I have no problem of this kind with the Black Pearl connected to my Windows PC.

Can you be more specific on what you experience? What browser on what OS (Windows?) were you using for YouTube playback? What music player on your PC did you use when you heard clicking between songs? Same problem on your Android phone?

The pops I experience were far worse with firmware .2 , which it was initially loaded with when I recieved it. I'm using Windows 10, Intel based. I am using a powered USB hub but I have several DAC's and none of the others has the noise. Since the upgrade to firmware .5, the pops and clicks between songs etc are gone but I still get a small pop when the DAC goes to sleep and then wakes up again, probably to save power. I've just stopped Windows from powering down the USB controllers, so I'll see if it still pops occasionally. Update, I do still get a pop when I'm changing from my streaming service that is in exclusive mode to Youtube etc with the power managment adjusted. Perhaps the energy saving is internal to the Black Pearl and not just Windows powering it down.
