Review of the KEF R3s

Hey, I'm the reviewer - I didn't compare it too much the LS50W in the review because I didn't want to make it too long, but I did actually do some back-and-forth sighted comparisons. My basic summary of differences would be:

In a typical room with rampant reflections, a flat speaker‘s frequency response will actually be tilted such that the bass is higher than the treble.

This is probably the best explanation of the downward sloping 'preferred curve' I've seen which is that is due to reinforcement of bass frequencies by the room which is more effective as the frequency drops. Above that frequency room effects are minimized, i.e. the Schroeder effect.
