PI2AES the AES outputs on the D90. Noise is heard and the D90 indicator shows 176khz.
Have you tries anything else that works with PI2AES or anything else that works with AES on D90?
It's 2:55AM in China. Will come back to you in day time.

Unfortunately, there is no other DAC available to check. If you can check it yourself.

Hmm. Just checked, D90 only supports DSD on USB. Where did you see that D90 supports it on other inputs? It was too late at night. It's that AK4499 doesn't support it.

Why do you need the PI2AES to feed the D90? Is your main source a linux based streamer, or do you just not like USB? I have always been curious about the need of a device like the PI2AES, so I thought I would ask. I try audio gear out for the fun of it, but this device has always stumped me on why it would be needed.

:( Yes you are right it turns out D90 no Dop support via Aes inputs, optics, coaxial. This is very very strange and unusual for a modern DAC. Now Dop support is the modern standard of all modern Dac. Topping can add DoP support in the firmware?

No AKM based dac has that as far as I know.

For example Teac nt505 on ak 4497 like other dacs perfectly plays dsd through dop. Photo from the instruction 505. Why Topping lags behind in this matter is not clear. :(

The singxer sda-6 on ak4499 is also perfectly compatible with DSD> DoP. Photo from the singxer sda-6 manual. Why does Topping have a problem with DoP? Most of Topping's even Chinese competitors support this format!
Perhaps Topping D90 needs to add DoP support to the firmware to keep up with most DAC manufacturers!

Hi. Have anyone tested the d90 Vs dx7pro?
I'm gone use it as a dac, (I also have a dx3 pro for headphones) The dx7pro is cheaper, and have amp and so on, the d90 is more expensive - but it have a clean look.
But what about the sound?

Pi2AES can be used as an RPi streaming box, which can be convenient at home. Not everyone listens straight from PC.
Now that seems an interesting option for me.
AES module is still 149$ (not) cheap.
Would the AES has any advantage over a regular other digital output to feed the D90 ?
