It is absolutely feasible. Buy the Lyngdorf. It is extremely easy to use and it works very well.My goal is clear, to add RC by one click, no complicated stuff needing a smart operator. Dunno if feasible.
Please help.
I have a very good opportunity for TDAI 1120, so I am asking this: As I am primarily interested in the RoomPerfect capability, how obsolete will this be in the next 10 years ? I mean, is it dependent of software updates, will support be discontinued when next gen devices will be launched etc ? Suppose I am going to use it only as a room correction processor, though it does not make sense financially.
I do use YPAO from Yamaha so if anyone tested both in the same space I would appreciate the opinion.
McIntosh is using Lyngdorf RoomPerfect algorithm. Don't know if that's what you're asking. There might be other things McIntosh is doing along with it so there could be differences between the MEN220 and any Lyngdorf product. Is there a difference between Lyngdorf RoomPerfect EQ ver McIntosh MEN220 Room Correction System ?
All my Audio kit ia McIntosh.
How can I decide what to buy ?
Thanks.
McIntosh MEN220 Room Correction System
The MEN220 delivers a potent suite of Room Correction, Custom-EQ and 2-Way Crossover capabilities in one easy-to-use stereo component. While any single feature of the MEN220 has the power to optimize the sonic characteristics of the highest quality audio systems, combining all the features can...www.mcintoshlabs.com
Though comb filtering is an issue, i think It is better to measure at unísono, because It will give a more realistic approach of the response in the modal region (bass), using a kind of multi sub approach. Using a smoothest correction above to avoid correcting combing artifacts.Does the measurement show two speakers playing unisono, it looks like that? If yes, the spl response shown is pretty typical (mic not in ablsolute center). It the Lyngdorf software does that only, I wouldn't give it a chance...
I have found it more "productive" to measure each driver separately. Optimal response curve is different then, because of no comb filtering (from two speakers). It is very informative to do several measurement by changing mic location. It would be informative to do several measurements by moving the speaker too. This way the user starts to learn what each wiggle in the response stands for, and could do specific adjustments to positioning and response eq. Some changes are easily smoothed by moving the speaker, others by moving the mic. Some changes are better left alone untouched.
We must remember that we perceive sound differently from a single microphone and FFT analysis. EQ softwares give different results because they use different masurements and weigh parameters differently.
In 2017, I started reading up on acoustics in rooms. Room treatment appealed to me. Not so much to my wife. Got really exited reading about MiniDSP and Dirac around 2018. Then I read more. And more. And realized it was not so easy to get things set up.
Stumbled upon Lyngdorf.
In 2019, I drove 600 km from The Netherlands to Germany to audition a second hand TDAI2200 on a set of Tannoys. Fell of my chair when switching to focus. Bought the amp for peanuts. Took it home, set it up with my Apogee Duetta Signatures and my Simaudio 180 (no DAC needed!) in 15 minutes and never looked back.
When I change my setup (moving house) 15 minutes gets me back in business.
I had enjoyed Duetta IIs on my Sumo Class A gear, but Roomperfect and the endless power of the TDAI2200 is something else. I still see TDAI 2200s going for peanuts. It is beyond me why you would ever sell one. Grab one when you can. Highly recommended.
I did not measure anything, but switching from focus, to global, to bypass tells the story.
I always end up at focus.
From the Cassandra Complex to Strawinski.
Around 2700,- an 2200,- euro used here in holland is not so peanuts i guess. Mathaudio room EQ is truly 0 euro ( combined with Foobar2000) connected to my laptop an NAD C370 it's a bit perfect bargain. Don't know if you get free updates from Lyngdorf. Aswell Lyngdorf Mathaudio Dirac etc are game changers IMO.What do you mean by 'peanuts'? How much?
wouldn't you be unable to use sub(s) if you use an external amp with theTDAI 1120? That may not be an issue for you, but may be for others...I understand the TDAI 1120 will do the same regarding Roomperfect processing. Looking to get one strictly for room correction but still use my beloved Yamaha AS 1100 as power.
Welcome in correction mode what no gear can do than DSPBought a TDAI 2170 last week and set it up yesterday. It's replacing my MiniDSP, DAC, and amp. I thought Dirac was good, but holy cow RP gave me eargasms unlike anything I've ever heard!
No subs, just the big T+A speakers. I'll have to redo calibration in the future as my wife has a big shelf in the room until she gets another space cleared for it. I also have about 4 more inches I can push my speakers back to the wall. 5 inches if I ditch the banana plugs and straight wire. But it only took 9 measurements to get Room Knowledge to 100%. I followed instructions and removed all my bass traps before starting, and only kept the panels at 1st reflection. I was immediately blown away by the stage and clarity. I'm never going back.
So far I'm bouncing between "Action 1" and "Soft" voicing as my preferences. The best way I can describe the sound is having the stage and detail of headphones, but from speakers. I even got my wife to sit in my chair for a few songs. She's not into audio but knows I love my toys. Even she was blown away at the clarity and separation of voices, instruments, everything.
That's how a friend, who owns the 2170, got me into buying Lyngdorf: "Buy Lyngdorf, run RoomPerfect and you'll never look back.".Bought a TDAI 2170 last week ... I'm never going back.
