My two units of #9038D were delivered yesterday. Picked up the package from my mailbox this evening. Delivered in just 12 days from ordering!
Tested both units using USB from MS Win 10 PC feeding 16/44.1 FLAC files and with Final A8000 IEM with 3.5mm to 4.4mm adapter. The clarity and resolution across the whole audio band are just exceptional. I have the MS Win 10 driver volume set to 50% and the MS Groove music player application volume set to between 50% and 60% depending on music. So there's tons of power if I should ever need it. I am tempted to crank up the volume to -0.5 dBFS just to bathe in the max SINAD and SNR
As I type this, I am listening to very fine jazz vocals from around the world which the #9038D presents such detail and lack of coloration that the realism is hypnotic. Of course, the high detail resolution of the A8000 IEM or similar transducer is needed to experience this. A superb device for a very reasonable price. Thanks to Amir's review highlighting the stellar performance of the original E1DA #9038S, which the current #9038S G3 and #9038D improve upon. The build quality of the E1DA dacs is reflected in the firm metal and the fine exterior styling and finish.
Included in the package was a fine artsy E1DA PCB with circuit components facsimile in copper, that is perforated for use as a keychain fob perhaps. Thanks @IVX for an unusual gift which I will twirl ostentatiously while talking with friends, whenever I get the chance! Now I await the release of PD v2.1, which StaticV3 said is going to be also usable as a DAC to feed a headphone amp.

BTW, the PCB you've got is the real one, I asked my Chinese wife Sunny do not throw out old PCBs(9038SG2) but send to our users like a little surprise. Actually, PCB is gold-plated and looks too neat to be in a waste-container. Sunny was surprised by that idea and asked me - but why, why?? I have no idea how to explain and said - just do it, please.
Possibly. Depends on what frequencies and networks in your region. Fine in the UK until you get very weak /no signal
MacBook is no problem in any case. Not tried iPhone.
