Revel M106 Bookshelf Speaker Review

- There are measurements : "Measurements taken in the anechoic chamber at Canada's National Research Council"
- OK, we are here on ASR because of a great scienctific approch with extensive measurements.
I thought a listening comparison could be usefull. All listening impressions (given on ASR) are subjective.
After good measurements, i am always looking for a maximum of listening impressions, because listening (with pleasure) is THE objective.
But OK, i deleted my post, because i agree that the listening impressions given are really too short and lack precision.
I would like to appologise your input is much appreciated, I do not wish to appear dismissive.

I'm still searching for a center channel speaker that pairs well with my 328be's and fits in my AV cabinet under the TV. The cabinet has an 8.75" x 36" place for the center channel. I tried a KEF Q650 and currently have the BW HTM71-S2, but I still feel like I don't have the sound I'm looking for.
Would it be a stupid idea to use 2 of the M106's or 105's laying on their side for a center channel? I do have an extra amp channel available so that would not be an issue. I would love to use the C208 but its just to darn big. The C205 would fit but not sure it would be any better the the HTM71.

What have you measured? Most likely you have to correct for the room or placement/interaction. Do you use EQ? M106 (or M105 or M16) are not set up for horizontal dispersion as a center, IMO.

No room correction as of yet, very happy with the uncorrected sound mostly although correction may be my best option. When I play the test tone for simple level matching (white noise) the sound from the center is has a different tonal characteristic than the 328's.

Simulated in CAD software it looks like horizontals gets totally spoiled by combing interference because of physical spaceing for acoustic points in space, technical into simulation model used Amir's spindata files in a renamed way so that one M105 is tilted to the right side and the other M105 is tilted to the left side, horizontals looks be ruined so much that only one seat in dead center will recieve information, below animation visualize situation and toggles per 2 seconds between one normal positioned M105 verse two M105 laying on its side as WTTW and as TWWT configuration :)..

Well that certainly tells the story that laying them down would be a bad idea and likely sound worse than I would have expected.
Thanks for the great work, I'm sure that took you some time to put that together and illustrates just how things react when used outside their design goals. Wish I knew how to work the plots like that, some impressive work! Thanks!!

As they say.. go big or stay home! C208 is a great speaker... if you can make it fit. Because it is quite large.

That Be center would be the best choice for him though?
Yes.. but it is even bigger (fixed sizes)
c426be 10.4" x 38.6 " x 14"
C208 11.8" x 28.9" x13.8"

So it looks like raising the TV up about 10" (major PIA) would allow for the 426BE to fit, or maybe put the M106's on either side of the TV would work? Worried that center channel speakers on either side would lose some the center dialog effect of a single unit.
The console only has a little less than 9" where the current center speaker resides.

I've had both, the C208 is about 1 1/2 inches TALLER than the 426 and IMO the 426 fits better. It means the TV has to go up but the 426be is worth it.

Raising the tv to fit the 426 may be in my future...

Forgive a stupid question, but I have a solid central image with my stereo speakers. What is the benefit of a center speaker?
