Revel F328Be Speaker Review

I think Gene’s assessment was pretty spot on but it’s not a fair fight as the performaBe is not the no holds barred top of the line flagship. Gene did say over and over again in his video review that the F328Be was an excellent speaker.

What I don’t like about the Perlisten S7t is how low the tweeter is. And they do sound really good but so does the F328Be. Gene just pointed out some “value engineering” that Revel did on the Be line. Reusing the same cabinet as the performa3 was lame imho. I really felt this when I replaced my F208 with the F228Be. I sold my F228Be less than a year later even though from a sound perspective they were as good as I ever needed.

Revel may never replace the ultima2 but for all intents and purposes, I don’t really care. If I ever go to replace my salon2/voice2, I’ll buy whatever is best that fits my requirements and budget at that time. I’m brand agnostic.
Is the Perlisten capable of higher quality wider dynamic peaks IYO?

Revel did a good job with the open soundstage of the performa 3 line, but some listeners prefer the tighter set for the sense of a more etched/detailed presentation as some prefer cans. I was more impressed with the bass from the s7t but didn't think it integrated with the mids as well as revel making me think the revels are easier to set up.

240 Hz crossover and acts as second harmonic filter to mids. Only problem they have is beeming little too much up (need a tall room) and of course sub's (where that crossover acts as a first and more crucial to how we hear).

These speakers are huge and heavy, so just curious how people are comparing? I listened to the 328be's in showroom (plus they have 30 day return policy) but it's not really possible to in-home test i.e. I had to hire guys from dealer to get them moved in. And it was quite the job for them, even with a crew of 3 guys. Yes, I did have a flight of stairs, but just unpacking them is a huge task.

Luckily, the 328be sound great in my room, but basically once I had them I owned them, regardless of return policy. I dread the day when I need to pack them back into their flight cases.

The Perlisten s7t were a different story altogether as I couldn't even find a place in Chicago that could demo. I would have loved to compare the two but not possible.

I don’t think many have done comparisons like Gene who has both speakers. Considering that the F328Be was designed to be a better quality version of the F228Be that can play loud with a huge soundstage, I’m sure they are excellent speakers. I could have lived with the F228Be from a sound quality standpoint especially with subs. Looks are subjective.

If there are any 5 figure+ speakers that are not excellent sounding, how long would they actually last?

I think you can go to their headquarters in Wisconsin about 2 hours from Chicago in Verona. It’s about 2 hours and 15 min from my house (west burbs).

I agree, and I don't think you can wrong with any of these choices, but when you're spending 5 figures on speakers it's nice to demo them. Might just see or hear something about one of them that helps with the decision.

I considered going to Wisocnsin, but could never sync with them for an appointment. Maybe I wasn't properly motivated :)
