Revel F228be on carpet

Love these speakers. Bought them three months ago and have them sitting on felt pads directly on my medium shag carpet. I know… I need to do better. The spikes provided by the mfg are not long enough to reach the internal threads in the base so I’m looking at other options. Outriggers?? Everything I found online requires screwing into the base of the speaker. I’m not doing that to $5k speakers.

So… anyone have Revel towers on carpet? What did you do?

GAIA feet come with multiple thread sizes, one of which will undoubtedly work. They are expensive however.

I have a pair of these, they are great. I got padded feet for a bare wood floor from the place below. I’m sure you could find what you need more cheaply, as the thread size is standard.

Yes… thanks. Thread size is indeed pretty common. M8x1.25. But I need the spikes to be at least 2 3/4” (70mm) long in order to reach those internal threads. I’ll try the site you linked and greatly appreciate your help

Not exactly the same but I have F208’s, no spikes/feet sitting directly on carpet. They measure and sound great. I wouldn’t overthink it.

Are you saying the threads won’t reach because the carpet is too thick or because the speaker female thread inserts are too deep?

You could buy flat head screws, instead of spikes, that works for me on carpet

Internal threads START at 2.5” (65mm) below the surface of the base

If I’m reading this correctly, you aren’t able to put the stock spikes in either?
Sounds like a flaw or something missing. ?

I have stock spikes/feet in (rounded side down for tile floor.

Yeah… maybe I got a pair that were manufactured incorrectly? Because the spikes pictured are indeed the ones that were sent and by the time the spike’s first thread reaches the internal threads the tip of the spike is already flush with the base.

No need to do better, unless the speakers are unstable and wobbling. Spikes can help with stability not sound, despite what the broad audiophile belief system says.

If I understand what you are saying, Revel shipped screws that aren't long enough to thread into the base of the speakers you bought? Reach out to them and ask them to ship the correct threaded spikes. It's an after-sales support issue which Revel should clear up, unless I misunderstand.

Home Depot might be your friend here but I have the 328Be's and I have them sitting on the carpet no spikes.

Good luck, they owe you an explanation of what is going on, and likely a solution based on your description of the problem.

Agreed that the provided Revel spikes are about useless on carpet as they are quite short. F226Be speakers here on thick carpet using Dayton Audio OS-2M Outrigger Speaker Spike Set (https://www.parts-express.com/Dayto...ith-Black-Steel-Base-2-Pcs-240-774?quantity=1) and Isoacoustics GAIA Isolators with matching Isoacoustics Carpet Discs. Also used "Thread Reducing Nuts M8 Male to M6 Female Adapters" (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F6371746) on the speaker for compatibilty with the Dayton Outriggers (and blue thread locker) to avoid drilling additional holes.
