Revel 126be

Quick look at the video. And already in the beginning during setup you need to select the output device. Can I do the measurements on an isolated laptop with the mic connected?

Umik via usb to laptop =>
Laptop connected to rme dac or bluesound node via usb=>
Amp =>
Speakers.

Rew on the laptop outputs a sweep signal that is played on your hifi system. The umik listens to the output and that is displayed on the screen.

Acoustic room improvement, step one ;). I also placed a matras upright behind listening position. Maybe small improvement, not sure yet. PS Do you all also find that Tracy Chapman her voice sounds metallic in Baby can I hold you?

Try to deal with the side wall reflection. Also the lack of a proper crossover for your subwoofer is another problem.

The direct sound from perfect measuring speakers like M126Be will be just reproducing what's in the recording without adding anything extra. They'd be great studio monitors. If it sounds "metallic" that's what the recording sounds like without alterations.

Room correction would probably be helpful as having one speaker in the corner like the the one on the left is likely to be adding a big peak in the bass because of the reflections and you'll also get a couple of nulls.

Never much cared for the Performa 3 series. They feature audible diffraction effects which show up in the measurements. Untreated rooms will amplify this. Since the Be series uses the same cabinet, it features the same issues.

Exactly... any given dispersion pattern which is firmly dictated by the complete speaker design, is quite influenced by the room it is placed in.
I would argue that a KEF speaker with a more narrowing dispersion pattern, should fit a more reflective room better - compared to a typical tweeter /midrange design with a wider dispersion, simply because of fewer reflections and more focused direct sound.
We all prioritise different things... but I believe we get the furthest by choosing wisely.
