Response to PS Audio on P12 PowerPlant Measurements (Video)

...seems that those that can pay $7k for a power strip are not that ignorant...

Based on what?

Seems that is exactly the right word to use.

I have a P300 and it subjectively improved sound with a Pass Aleph Preamp, but only there.

What annoys me about PS Audio today:
- false spec on output impedance of high current outlet (3 Ohm!!!) and not admitting to it
- exaggerated spec for other outlets by measuring inside the box
- false claim that the P12 is still a regenerator, which it obviously is not

not to mention the whole "makes your system sound better" part...which is really what it's all about right? That awesome bass improvement. Oh and those incredible dynamics and that amazing new soundstage!

Then there's the Guttenburgs and the Darkos and all the other audiophile salesmen posting their vids. I don't see why Amir shouldn't feel free to do the same.
Because then we wouldn't have a place to crash in these trying times. ASR is fun. Once Amir turns, we have to build it anew.

I think Amir is in a situation where money is solved. It's a good place to be. You can allow yourself some integrity.

Maybe I should clarify - I just mean I don't see why Amir should stop posting vids debunking the BS while the BSers are flooding the airwaves with more and more BS.

Paul McGowan is one of those individuals for who I separate my opinion of what he does, and how he does it.
He is selling over priced gear which for the most part seems average at best in performance, some of which is junk and some of which seems to be snake oil. He uses every audiophile cliche and preys on the gullible.
However, I have to admit that I think he is brilliant at what he does. He has a splendidly genial, avuncular delivery and is a very good story teller. He wrote a book and I bet it is a hoot to read (and I mean that, not being sarcastic or anything). Even though I find myself scratching my head at some of his videos thinking 'surely no-one is swallowing this?' I can't help tipping my hat as it is masterfully done.

I find his routine eye-roll inducing. It seems pretty transparent to me...all good-natured and hokey. But "likeability" isn't all that rare in the field really. Guttenburg is a genial dude too. Fremer...not so much, lol

PSA is one of those companies that invents problems that do not arise in order to be able to solve them with devices that they design and sell at high prices that are enough to validate their effectiveness with audiophiles who are victims of the propaganda of press influencers written and internet forums.

Thanks, got it. :)

you carrying on thinking the audio community does know better is even more silly.

I guess we're moving past "your measurements don't tell us everything! There's clearly something missing that accounts for the magic I'm hearing!" and we're now in "Hey man it's just a hobby and we're just having fun! We all already know what's really going on...no need to tell us" territory.
You nailed it. It can be summed up as "one lie after another"! People doubling down on ignorance. Amazing.

Yes, and sadly the BSers flooding the market with BS (Audio nonsense) is 90% of all manufacturers! What a weird hobby. Can you imagine hobby racers building a race car and 90% of what they buy doesn't work or offered no improvement in performance? Audio is just so full of every day lies taken as fact. That is why women are not involved in audio, they are too smart and don't believe all the magic claims.

A question about the P12 regeneration feature (not the audio impact BS): PS Audio claims in their video that they’ve flatten the sine waveform on purpose, so that it is “friendlier” to devices that have power factors below 1 (my words… at least that’s what I understood). Is this correct from an AC standpoint? If yes, does it mean that a cheap “square wave” regenerator would be even better? Again I am only talking about the AC aspect of the regenerator…

Paul posts a new vid of him hanging out at his awesome audio laboratory every four or five days. I never watch them, but I see the thumbnails in my feed. Then there's the Guttenburgs and the Darkos and all the other audiophile salesmen posting their vids. I don't see why Amir shouldn't feel free to do the same.
He usually posts a video a day. Sometimes two. Now he's releasing nonsense videos on the Octave channel.

Narcissists are usually pretty charming at first, and manage to fool a lot of people with their gaslighting. But when they get called out, their bad sides appear, like DOXXing Amir in that response.

Their toxicity should be shunned, not admired.
