Hi

In 2017~2018, based on the advices on some here on ASR and AVSforum, I acquired a BenQ HT2050A. I have been extremely satisfied with this projector. Its accuracy out of the box is stunning and it lit up my Steward GrayHawk 100 inches (diag) screen very well. I have enjoyed movies for almost 8 years on it and been utterly pleased. I could definitely see its shortcomings, in the black levels and shadow details areas. I have seen better, my TV (LG OLED) is a constant and quasi-daily reminder. I was about to go large TV, even tried on Samsung (non-OLED) but experience wasn't as cinemartic.

The other night was going for Alien Earth ( An excellent series, BTW) and no forewarning... red light on the PJ, .. went from working normally, to no picture and a red LED... Lamp is likely toast and replacement is about $250 ..

Time for a change.

  • Room is relatively small, 3.5 x 4.8 x 2.8 meters concrete dedicated. Good light control and painted dark gray.
  • Budget<=$3000 for PJ + Screen, or TV
  • Cinematic Experience, at least 98 inches diagonal, more is better
  • HDR? maybe , close to HDR would be nice
  • 4 K? hand-waving
  • Like the idea of a Laser source for durability.
  • Have heard all the noise/hype about Valerion PJ. Like the reviews. No experience with these.
  • Bought a Stewart GrayHawk at a great price but are there SMSL/Topping/Fosi screen equivalent equivalent to Stewart Screen... low price but high performance based on measurements?
I know we are not that HT-bent here but tend to prefer your advices to others'.

Waiting for your replies, comments and suggestions.

Peace
