It depends: wireless (needing just a plug in) is an advantage over my passive subs in that I do not need speaker cables for. The placement of the 20 amp (USA 120 V at the receptacle) in my home are very convenient for this & running multiple subs.
So, it depends on your setup & whatever floats your boat. So far, for many years, I have been happy with my pair of passive subs and their locations. But I can certainly see other ways of doing things that might be beneficial to my system.
