FWIW, I use Belden 8218 mini coax for guitar applications because of its low capacitance, decent (if not great) flexibility, and reasonable cost -- but I certainly wouldn't bother making cables with it for a line level home stereo application when even the cheapest imaginable pre-made cable is more than adequate in any room not located in some ferocious EMI hotspot.

Belden 8451 was the workhorse standard twisted pair cable used to wire most studios back in the day. If you listen to any recordings from the 70s and 80s the signal has probably run through a hundred feet or more of 8451 before it gets to your gear. That's why I'm highly skeptical of claims that three feet of "magic" cable is going to make any difference.
