Hello. I have a guitar processor nux mg 400, and a sound card behringer umc 404HD. I want to record electric guitar through my guitar processor connecting the unbalanced outputs of the nux mg 400 to the combo inputs of my sound card. Here is the question, do I need a DI box? My sound card has an INST button, but do I need a DI box just to make the signal balanced and not unbalanced? The jack cables are high-quality, but long. And I do not play far away, I play close to the sound card

No. The instrument connection is wired correctly for an unbalanced, high-impedance connection, and it has less gain than the microphone connection.

The output of the stomp box is not Hi-Z like the guitar itself. So give it a go with the switch set to LINE as well. The INST setting may work best if you connect the guitar directly. But my guess is either switch position will work.

You need the DI box when you're at a gig and the sound guy offers only XLR to plug into his snake (fnarr fnarr).
