Hey!

I've been reading many review on the forum. I have tried a couple of speakers at home now.

I have some requirements for speakers that I'd like to share

1. OK for mixing, really don't have to be flat actually I would prefer that they weren't

2. I love airy sounding high details speakers, treble and Mid range are more important to my ears, do not need thumping bass.

--- Eris E5Xt, These were nice but they were lacking in some areas, too "smooth sounding" for me

--- Adam T8v These really surprised me, they sound so flat (maybe its the mids?)

I was thinking of going for the T5V's as they seem to have attracted better review than the T8. I've seen people get excited about them here and on "Z reviews" on YouTube for example

I'm open to spending more. I really want a good tweeter

Thankyou guys

For under US$400/pair, the usual picks are:

Kali LP-8
8" woofer
US$400/pair
review
Note: The graph looks smooth than others. This is because the speaker was measured using quasi-anechoic method, which is less accurate than Klippel NFS.

Overall:
If you need the speaker to play loud, go with Kali LP-8.
Otherwise, Adam T5V would be my pick.

juding by the LP-6 meassurement https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/kali-lp-6-review-studio-monitor.17978/
it is quite possible that the TV5 play cleaner at 96dB than the LP-8?
In terms of distortion handling, Adam T5V is definitely cleaner

than Kali LP-6

Since we don't have distortion measurements for Kali LP-8, we can only speculate.
I suspect LP-8's distortion handling might be comparable/similar to Adam T5V.
I suspect Kali LP-8 would be able to play louder than Adam T5V simply due to having a larger 8" woofer.

But my recommendation is (if you have the budget), to skip LP-6/8 and go for IN-5 (or IN-8v2), since they're a 3-way and handle distortion better.
Kali IN-5:

Kali IN-8v2:

Erin shows distortion in terms of db, so you can convert it to %, by going to website:
-10db => 31%
-20db => 10%
-30db => 3.1%
-40db => 1%
-50db => 0.3%
-60db => 0.1%

For both Kali IN-5 and IN-8v2, you can see distortion:
- below 40hz, distortion rises above 3.1%.
- from 100 to 300hz, distortion falls from 3.1% to about 1%
- above 300hz, distortion stays mostly below 1%.

if/when the distorsion handling is similar the usefull loudness is, too, right? what is "playing loud"? it is the volume before it distorts, no?

but then again if you compare distorsion of the T5V and the T8V a bigger woofer only seams to make things better near the roll-off

Kali unfortunatly is not an option here in Brazil
