Hi,

I'm newly registered.

I'm trying to little home music server. I like to listen 24bit FLACs (up to 192khz), DSD formats from prostudiomasters, 7digital etc.

I have little baby room for listening music and watching movies. I may play things in moodie audio etc.

Here's what I have:

1. Edifier R1700BT (They have a built-in amplifier as you know.)
2. Raspberry Pi 4 8 gb (with 128gb microSD)
3. 1 tb SSD connected to Raspberry with USB3.1

I prefer native DAC options for my setup. And do I need anything more than DAC? (yes I'm N00b)

I found Topping D10S and TOPPING E30 for my budget but I'd love to know your choices.

Thanks for comments.

What are your priorities? Do you just want the best audible performance, or do you care about aesthetics and great specs that reach way beyond audibility?

Thanks for comments, appreciated.

My budget is 500$.

And yes it's really small room. I checked now and it's 2.40m X 2.50m X 2.50m

My priorities is good setup for this kind small room., I want to listen jazz and classical.

And components must be compatible with my Rpi4.

I can change speakers etc. If needed with additional budget.

Also I've read below topic and am I same train for DAC?

you don't need a DAC, use optical/TOSLINK for best performance.

OK, so you need a DAC to get the sound grom the RPi to the speakers?

D10s and D30 are both excellent. They shouldn't sound dufferent, but D30 has a better case, nice volume control, XLR outputs, better specs.

Maybe get D30 pro so you have forward compatibility with pro monitors like Genelec and Neuman... maybe Focal. Speakers are the most important part of the chain. This is what I would do.

Or if you only want to spend about $500 total and be done with it, D10s and some refurb or open box Adam audio T7V speakers.

The black Topping DACs with orange LED displays are so pretty.

Edifier is going to use an ADC on its analog inputs anyway. Does the RPi have an analog output?
