Well, I finally bought a pair of active speakers and the chosen ones were the Neumann KH310. I've had them for a month now and I have mixed emotions. On the one hand the placement of the KH310s is not ideal either. The Seas A26 are too far away and boxed in the bookcase and the KH310 are too close to me and too close to the walls. This has caused me to have to adjust the rear panel controls, losing bass and some midrange. They are very good with vocal jazz, experimental music and good standard jazz recordings, but with multi-instrumentation they don't sound as good. In other words, I have a similar problem as I have with the Seas A26's, but I have gained in certain aspects. The music at night is great. I can listen to it at a reasonable volume without disturbing the neighbors because the Neumanns are so close to me. I have also managed with JRiver's room settings to be able to indicate the distance at which each speaker is located, so that a perfect triangle is recreated and I enjoy one of the most praised virtues of these speakers, the ghost center. I also have to say that in the KH310s the bass is not nearly as good as in the Seas A26s. There are recordings that I prefer to listen to in one or the other pair of speakers, depending on the type of instrumentation. Also contemporary jazz usually sounds better on the KH310s than on the Seas A26's, and classical jazz the other way around.
All in all, I have gained things with this acquisition, but I still don't get the “high end” sound I'm looking for. The room is not the right one and the acoustics have limits. If I ever move house, I will try again and I will put the furniture thinking first of all about the location of the speakers. I can't make any more changes here. I attach a picture of the KH310's next to my tables and I thank you for all the help you gave me when I wrote to the community asking for advice on how to improve my audio setup. I apologize for interrupting this serious discussion but I chuckle ever time I see the title "..non ideal room". ...As if most of us have perfect-treated-dedicated listening rooms or home theaters.
