Hey community,

last year I made my entry to the hifi world with a poor setup of Yamaha A-670 & Triangle BR02.

I am using it to listen to music from my TV with a cheap DAC but also play the guitar with Focusrite solo gen4.

I would like to improve the setup so I believe I am looking for an kinda future proof amp above 800e (I am located in EU) that:
  1. has a good all around DAC (for hifi but also for headphones) - I am thinking of buying a pair of headphones (Sennheiser HD 650 for playing the guitar)
  2. streaming capabilities
  3. has hmdi arc
  4. is compact (less than <10cm height)
So far I have found
  1. Denon Home Amp (doesn't seem to fit the headphone DAC though)
  2. Cambridge Audio EVO 75
  3. Naim Uniti Atom HDMI version (used at 1600e)
Any recommendation is more than welcome! Also any recommendation for new passive speakers & studio headphones are appreciated

Generally, the biggest improvement can be gained by changing speakers, not electronics. So I would start there first.

None of your options will have a particularly good headphone amp. It might be best to buy a separate one if that is important. If not it could be an acceptable compromise.

Look at WiiM Ultra + WiiM amp Pro. Headphone amp isn’t the best either, but at least the amp streaming and EQ capabilities are good.

Thanks @voodooless. I had the impression that the specific electronics were quite subpar and could not bring out the best of the speakers. Looking into the combo you shared

The Yamaha certainly isn’t the best AVR, but it really isn’t the weakest link. Having said that, a different amp/streamer can also bring other features, so might still make sense.
