Hello All,

I’m looking for recommended speakers (max 2.5k) for a living room setup, mainly for watching movies and listening to music with a lot of bass—reggae, hip-hop, and jazz.
The living room is 21 square meters, and with the adjoining hall, it’s about 28 square meters.
Currently, I have a pair of Acoustic AR6 speakers connected.
the AR6s are super speakers, they lack bass and are getting old. It’s time for an upgrade.

Thanks in advance

Some recommendable bookshelf speakers under 2500$:

Wharfedale Linton

Kef R3 Meta

Philharmonic BMR Monitor V2

Ascend Acoustics Sierra LX (See under measurements)

Ascend Acoustics Sierra 2EX V2 (See under measurements)

Video tutorial on how to interpret the measurements:

Out of the speakers listed the Ascend Sierra 2EX V2 and the Philharmonic BMR Monitors habe the widest dispersion (they "radiate more treble energy into the room"). Both Ascend speakers have the lowest efficiency of the bunch (they will be quieter than the others with the same input from the amp). The Wharfedale Lintons are the only ones designed to play best with the speaker grille on. The Kef R3 Metas are the only coaxial speakers out of the bunch (all treble and mid frequencies are radiated from the same point source) and have the most even vertical directivity (Sound doesn't change as much if you're above or below tweeter level). Every one of them would be a great choice and a clear upgrade to the AR6.

If floorstanders are also an option the Polk R700 might be interesting and would deliver more bass than the bookshelfs listed above, but keep in mind that bass performance also depends heavily in the room, placement and listening position:
