Recommendation: DAC to connect active speakers to TV

ok I did try a SMSL DO100 pro (witch stock firmware and 1.1 MCU update) and same story, great sound throught HDMI ARC but CEC volume not working :-(
I guess I'll have to wait for a SMSL DAC which officially supports HDMI ARC and CEC.

it's explaining why they don't mention CEC in the manual.
It's not an easy task to find a good DAC witch HDMI ARC/CEC with provides XLR outputs :-(

It's actually quite simple, as with all AVRs; you only need an official chipset.
However, since SMSL has implemented a solution to crack HDMI and has many devices on the market with it, it's questionable whether they'll ever get official and licensed chips.

Maybe they'll get CEC working in the future with another hack, but considering how problematic ARC and CEC were even with the official solutions...

I don't understand why this is such a big issue anyway, especially when it comes to volume control and powering on/off via a remote control. That can be solved with a universal remote control.

In my case I would need CEC volume control because :
- the box (nvidia shield) remote control is pretty perfect for me so I'd like to keep it
- the box uses a BT remote and DAC are mostly (all) IR one so it's not as universal as it could :)

for sure we can live with multiple remotes, universal remotes, only changing volume on the box etc etc but CEC makes things to work without hassle.
