I work often with singers (they usually record with me in the control room of the studio).

I am currently using hd280 and also pas m4u1.

I need to buy 3 pair of 1 model of headphones (I wear one while the singer is tracking, singer had one, and sometimes there is an extra person).

The hd280 and m4u1 have all cracked, singers are pretty rough with headphones.

What headphones would you suggest? Sometime closed back, good sound, confortable and resistant.

Ideally in the $100 to $300

Thanks!

Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic are the only brands with a robust supply chain for replacement parts.

If you'd like to be able to keep the headphones running for many years to come, without having to send them in for repair every time, then I'd suggest you look into one of their offerings.

An easily replaceable headphone cable is key as well.

Thanks! Is there a big difference between 770 and 770 pro x?

The Beyer's always sounded a bit too clear, or too much V shaped, but I've only tried one pair 15 years ago so I could give them a try.

GRAS measurements of both versions are available here: https://www.reddit.com/r/oratory1990/wiki/index/list_of_presets

770 Pro X adds a replaceable cable, which I highly recommend.

I once owned a DT 990 Pro with fixed cable (same as DT 770 Pro), and the cable broke at the ear cup entry after just a few hours of being stored in Beyer's official travel case (there was an inevitable cable kink in that spot.

Such faults are likely with fixed cables and repairs are annoying, having to disassemble the headphone and solder a new wire onto the drivers.

A replaceable cable like on the DT700/770 Pro X removes that risk.
