TLDR: Recommend an external DAC for my phone that doesn't drain the battery.

On my nightstand, I use a secondary phone as a radio/podcast/YouTube player (and I've been sleeping with the radio on for over 20 years).

Until now, there was no problem, as I've always had a 3.5mm jack. This year, they've decided to do away with the 3.5mm jack on all phones (even low-end ones).

I'm looking for an external DAC with a power supply so I can continue using my 3.5mm IEMs. (With a power supply so it doesn't drain the phone's battery).

I usually fall asleep with my headphones on.

Do you have any inexpensive recommendations?

I have a CX31993 DAC and an IFI go link , but I feel like they drain the phone's battery a lot.

Thanks a lot !!!!!

If the DAC is well-built and has its own power supply, you can use a USB cable with the positive supply line cut or missing.
This prevents any discharge through the DAC.

thanks a lot for the suggestion !!! Im searching one from europe :)

For a long time I’ve used low-volume audiobook listening to help me fall asleep and to help me fall asleep again if I wake up with insomnia. Using wired headphones was often a pain, with earbuds getting yanked out and the wires getting tangled. Bluetooth earbuds turned out to be the way to go. Using a sleep timer helps reduce battery drain.

apple dongle if you have an iPhone

How is the condition of the battery in your mobile?
A new battery, if needed, might help.

Is not in very bad condition..... the problem is I use it all night, then I forget to charge it, and next night I cant use with DAC........
Thanks !!!

Android , but it works..... :)
only 0,5 w in Europe (not 1amp like EEUU)
By the way, there are a few DAC dongles on Amazon with an additional charging port. They have a wider compatibility range, and the audio performance is really good, at least with UGREEN. It's perfectly sufficient for IEMs and high-efficiency headphones, and it also works with amplifiers.
UGREEN Magnetic USB C to Jack Adapter and Charging 60W Fast Charge, 2 in 1 Headphone Adapter USB C to Jack with Hi-Res 32 bit/384 kHz for iPhone 16 Pro Max iPad Pro/Mini 6 Galaxy S24 Ultra S23

Thanks a lot !! I was searching for a external dac with power, or double usb c splitter for use with my ifi-go dongle or cyrrus logic dongle (I have a few ones).
I saw a lot of usbc + power with dac like the link you give me, but people says they are really bad quality......

I was thinking also in a Ifi Zen dac , I dont move from the bed, so portable is not the problem......

This is the Splitter I saw yesterday:

Thanks a lot for your help, I will see the comments on the Ugreen you told me :)
