Recessing ceiling panel into ceiling cavity?

Hey guys

I'm in the process of treating my listening room (Lounge)
The room is an open plan (Lounge, dining room and kitchen)
The left of the room opens up to the dining room and kitchen.
The right of the room has a large sliding glass door - I've already got a full curtain covering it.
I've got a smallish / thin carpet on the tiled floor - I'm in the process of finding a larger carpet and adding a felt underlay - would that be sufficient?

Which then leaves the ceiling.
I'm trying to keep everything wife friendly - I'm contemplating adding ceiling panels, recessed into the ceiling.
Essentially, cutting out the ceiling board and building boxes in between the roof trusses - and then filling them with some rockwool.
Then covering them with a breathable white cloth to blend into the ceiling.
Would this be a good idea?
If so, what sort of size should I be aiming for?
