Hi
I was thinking about spendig $1500 on a new AVR, for new floorstanding speakers (currently thinking about getting Mofi 888). I was debating about Denon 3700 or 3800, and it seems the 3800 extra features are not really important for me. About 50/50 music and tv, and probably 4.0 system, maybe will get 1 sub, but the mofi have very good bass. But then I saw Onkyo tx-rz50 on sale at best buy for 1100 with Dirac which may help in my room with open back wall, and reflective surfaces (wood, mirror, french doors). The 3700 is 1600, so about 1/3 more. To be honest, I don't understand much of the reviews hear on the speaker other than 3700 was good, and neither 3800 or Onkyo 50 was recomended. I don't play loud, so I doubt I will have power issues. There are some posts here about Onkyo Dirac, but not sure what the issue is, or if resolved. I also saw old reliability issues for the Onkyo, but wasn't sure that was still a problem. Any recent experience or stat? thanks for suggestions.

Support for multiple subwoofers via Dirac is limited on select Onkyo AVR's compared to the Denon 3800 - this is not an issue in a configuration using one subwoofer.

I use Dirac Live with a Pioneer '505' AVR formerly made by Onkyo in a 4.1 setup and perceive greater clarity when Dirac is enabled.

I think the Onkyo TX-RZ50 will work for your usage case.

Another option that may work as well.....

Adorama in NYC is currently selling the Onkyo TX-RZ30 9.2 AVR with a paid Dirac Live license for $799

The Onkyo TX-RZ30 offers support for 2 independent subwoofers and the option to support Dirac Live Bass Control at an additional cost.
