Hell, a rich audiophile could have a really bling bling custom made case built for a standard switch that would look incredible and would cost way less than this thing.D: A rich audiophile does not want to be seen using a cheap of-the-shelf router.
There are optical Ethernet switches and streamers made for audio. Not saying you can hear the difference (and I haven’t heard one), but if you want to eliminate any possibility of noise being conducted into your system, that would do it. I’d say it’s for people who want take things to the nth degree, just to be sure they have the best setup possible.I put it in my group chat with my sons (all engineers, including electrical/computer). Two of them are founder/early employee in a bio-informatics tech startup (hence the sequencing comment).

Yes, but I’m talking about items with 3 figure prices, not something approaching $10KYeah, I know what it is. First and foremost, it’s a way to separate stupid people from their money.
Is the network noise in the room with us now?Once you have become accustomed to streamed music unhindered by network noise, it is hard to unhear the effects of such nasties.

I left something appropriate in the electronica threadA long time ago, I heard network noise every day
