Slightly overkill, but if it works for you, it’s great!Me being obsessive, I use red and black heat shrink on bare metal RCA plugs. I also use red and black heat shrink to mark speaker wire.
Well yes: if they are not isolated and touch each other, it will generate a short and potentially damage your amplifier. Not a good idea! What about speaker connectors?
I'm probably more obsessed than you cause I also use colored heat shrink but mine also has info for the visible ones:Me being obsessive, I use red and black heat shrink on bare metal RCA plugs. I also use red and black heat shrink to mark speaker wire.

(viablue has lots of nice stuff)
Hi, can I ask where you got these connectors and what are they called? What about speaker connectors? Many are metal core with a metal body/sleeve. So I am guessing larger ones or ones that are flexible could touch and cause harm, either at the speaker or receiver/amp?

That's a defective jack - the sleeve/shield was broken off. Seen that so many times. If you ever had to use that L RCA as a mono out - it would not work!My old DJ mixer has that one-sided insulation as a feature:View attachment 396653
