RCA plugs questions and suggestions?

I still don't see the relevance to an application with no binding posts but large contact area plugs and basically zero current.
Is it using your famous conductive dust or mouse droppings? :)

I don't even think the "single point" thing has anything to do with what was wrong with the v1 buckeye amps.

Thank you, @EngineerNate, it would appear that your focus is not Materials, as indicated with the Measure for the v1/v2 Buckeye amps, but Contact Pressure, is that correct, which is reasonable? Yes, not enough Contact Pressure for the utilised Materials will result in under controlled/damped AC Resonance and affect Signal Transfer, won't it, and too much Contact Pressure will result in over damping (even compression/damage) of the utilised materials, won't it, and will also affect Signal Transfer, reasonable? As @Ropeburn has mentioned, there is essentially low AC current, so the (Signal) Transfer needs to be even Higher/Better performing, doesn't it, especially for small Signal transfer, reasonable? Another example is.... why utilise a Dip8 adapter/container when the Chip can be solder directly to the Board unless it is for convenience and experimentation, in which case the Dip8 adapter/container would need to be very good wouldn't it?....
  • Sidenote.... @Ropeburn 's famous conductive dust or mouse droppings is not needed with Single Point contact, why, it is Self Cleaning but as @Ropeburn has mentioned, (reasonable) Contact Pressure plays a part....

Note that, the post was about Materials and Measure that could be viewed and discussed, as they exist on ASR, don't they, reasonable?

I don't think pressure has anything to do with electrical damping.
Thank you, @EngineerNate, electrical damping was not mentioned, was it? What do you suggest that electrical damping is (with reference to Materials and Contact Pressure) and why have you mentioned it?

My choice for a long time now. Easy to work with, honest cable, good company. Plugs are easy to solder.

I don't believe so. I think the point was that the distortion mechanism in the Buckeye speaker connectors only occurs at high current, while the RCA plugs that are the subject of this discussion are never meant to carry high current. That distortion mechanism will make no difference to an RCA connector.

Curious why some of you use balanced cable (2 conductors + shield) for unbalanced cables. Just what you have laying around?
 
Although not DIY, kabusa.com offers a bunch of moderately-priced cables with great capacitance specifications.
 
Yes indeed. I'm not going to buy lengths of two or three different types when one works for everything.
I usually get a spool of Mogami star-quad and use it everywhere, max length I ever use is 6 meters (3 meters actually, back and forth) and that's for el. measurements, as I like to measure my gear life-like, as they sit on the rack.

That actually coincidentally sees the effect of the long cables as I have compared the results with short ones (long story short, your ADC better have a decent input impedance, as all gear, or... :facepalm: )
