This reminds me of my university visit to Dungeness B nuclear power station on the Kent coast (the 'K' in KEF!) in 1990. Here's an old photo, they'd upgraded the control room to colour by the time I visited ... (Actually, this must be Dungeness A, because B was built in colour in 1983)

first tests with my DIY raspberry pi microscope:

0805 RGB LED (1.06x1.80mm). 0402 resistor at the edge of the screen in the second picture for reference.

Literally the first tests, still a lot to adjust and improve, but so far one of the most satisfying projects ever, highly recommended.
