3.1 System: Kef R5 (L/R), R6 (C), and KC92 (sub). Running on Denon x3800h.

Been playing with A1 Evo Acoustix to get an EQ that I find reasonably enjoyable as adjustments made with Audyssey I find are thin in the bass -- despite the tips/trick to have the system bring down the sub trim and then bump the subwoofer gain post processing.

One of my last runs -- I had A1 alter up to 500hz, then added PEQ for the whole spectrum with REW before finishing up. Honestly the best I had it sounding thus far.

My question is -- what are the pro/cons of raising or lowering the house curve db level prior to PEQ with REW?

For example after running the 75db sweep measurements -- the speaker SPL max level was around 78, average 75, low 70.

If I raised the house curve to 78db, it provided boosts to all lows then I would turn down master volume when listening.

If I lowered the house curve to 70db, it cut the highs to bring everything level. Then I would turn up master volume when listening.

If I left it at 75, there be a mix of boosts and cuts. MV would be in between the above two.

Now I was listening at night and not trying to wake everyone up so volume was still low. Wasn't much perceived difference -- but wondering when I push the system is one configuration inherently more unstable and likely to clip?

Seems like the higher level as more MV head room but less at individual frequencies whereas the lower level has less MV head room but more at the individual frequency.

Thanks for the insight.
